The Dock+
Part of the BC Food Hub Network, The Dock+ is a shared 17,000 sq ft. space, with a commercial kitchen, owned by the Port Alberni Port Authority at Fishermen’s Harbour. It’s a  business incubator for start-ups and small businesses, offering the right equipment and environment for growth, development, and collaboration.

Cascadia Seaweed
Cascadia Seaweed is the largest kelp cultivator in Canada, with 7 ocean farms totaling 26 hectares and producing 250 wet tonnes. In 2021 Cascadia, the City of Port Alberni, and partners completed a pre-feasibility study for the creation of a Canadian Centre for Seaweed Research (CCSR). Cascadia's operations include a facility at Port Alberni's food hub The Dock+.

Eat Canadian Seafood
Eat Canadian Seafood supports local while making Canadian Seafood and Shellfish available to the Alberni Valley and Vancouver Island. They are the exclusive distributors of Effingham Oysters and operators of the Cold Storage facility and Alberni Ice at The Dock+. The processing facility is CFIA licensed (finfish, crustacean and shellfish HACCP certified), complete with freezer storage and live tanks.

Effingham Oyster
Located in Effingham Inlet, Barkley Sound, Effingham Oyster is distributed exclusively by Port Alberni's Eat Canadian Seafood Co. located at The Dock+ food hub. The hatchery Nova Harvest is located in the community of Bamfield.

Independent Seafoods Canada Corporation (ISCC)
The ISCC operates two freezer trawlers, the Sunderoey and Raw Spirit out of Port Alberni Terminals. Raw Spirit has made its home port in Port Alberni since 2013 , contributing to job creation for local suppliers and marine trades. Kelly Andersen, President of ISCC, noted that “over 80% of the Raw Spirit’s workforce has come from Port Alberni.”

St. Jean's Cannery produces retail seafood products, and offers custom sport fish processing for fishing lodges, charters, and individual fishers in British Columbia. They also offer commercial co-pack services for domestic and international producers.

NTC Uu-a-thluk Fisheries
Part of the Uu-a-thluk aquatic resource management department of the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council, Uu-a-thluk Fisheries support Nuu-chah-nulth participation in the harvest of fish and shellfish, in keeping with Nuu-chah-nulth traditional practices and principles.

Ocean Networks Canada | NEPTUNE Observatory Shore Station
Port Alberni's NEPTUNE shore station sends data collected data its fibre optic cable system to the University of Victoria. The NEPTUNE infrastructure is an 840 km loop of fibre optic cable with five node, each instrumented with a diverse suite of sensors that enable researchers to study interactions among geological, chemical, physical, and biological processes that drive the dynamic earth-ocean system over a broad spectrum of oceanic environments.

Port Alberni Port Authority
Port Alberni Port Authority is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the harbour, and the long term development and improvement of the waterfront facilities, including recreational marinas and secondary industries. The Port Authority works with the community towards economic diversification; its vision “to be a thriving diversified port”. The mission of the port is to facilitate profitable maritime trade and marine related tourism and industry by offering services and leadership that respect both the community and the environment.

Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue | Station 39, Pacific Region
Operates primarily in Alberni Inlet responding to marine distress calls: Vessels broken down and requiring a tow, man overboard, vessels adrift, onboard fires, overdue boaters. Provides assistance in Medivacs, and have been tasked to meet the Bamfield Lifeboat and transfer a patient for transport to hospital in Port Alberni.

Uu-a-thluk-Fisheries
Uu-a-thluk is an aquatic resource management program administered through the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC). Uu-a-thluk is funded through a contribution agreement with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) and works within the policies and practices of the NTC.

Uu-a-thluk increases Nuu-chah-nulth access to sea resources by (1) protecting and advancing Nuu-chah-nulth fishing rights, (2) maximizing Nuu-chah-nulth participation in beneficial government programs, (3) participating in projects that increase current access and sustain resources and (4) retaining knowledge of Nuu-chah-nulth rich oral history and culture as it relates to the sea.

Coastal Restoration Society (CRS)
Coastal Restoration Society carries out industrial-scale environmental restoration and stewardship projects in coastal communities and waterways. The organization of 300+ people supports the environmental remediation goals of First Nations, provincial, and federal government agencies. 

Western Canada Marine Spill Response Co. (WCMSRC)
WCMRC is the Transport Canada-certified marine spill response organization for Canada’s West Coast. Their mandate under the Canada Shipping Act is to be prepared to respond to marine oil spills along all 27,000 km of British Columbia’s coastline, and to mitigate the impact when a spill occurs. This includes the protection of wildlife, economic and environmental sensitivities, and the safety of both the responders and the public.
